Path Projects: Graves PX Shell Jacket

Ryan Ramsby completed the 2024 Cocodona 250 and is now training for the Tahoe 200. 100+ explores the gear, nutrition, logistics, and training required to tackle 100+ mile races.

I’m a huge fan of product that can serve multiple purposes.

Lots of companies taught “trail to bar” or “commuter”.

Path Projects is more like “Office to Tahoe 200”. I feel like they bridge the gap of performance and aesthetic better than maybe anyone.

The Graves PX Shell Jacket

Running jackets are a finicky thing.

With too much breathability they don’t do their job and without enough you’re a wet mess. I have found the Graves PX to be an extremely versatile shell to shield you from the elements.

Incredible stretch (Primeflex) and durability give me full confidence that this jacket can keep up and keep me comfortable in the high alpine of Tahoe where temps will be constantly fluctuating throughout the race.

It is DWR coated, so it isn’t a full-on rain jacket, but a quick spot shower would be no issue.

With a layer underneath I’d have no reservation trusting this piece down to 15-20 degrees.

Organize your gear, simplify your run. Travel + Aid Station bags built for ultra runners. Crew Drop One, Double Pack, Dry Bags, Shoe Bags.

And with its laser cut perforations under the arms it breathes enough to stay dry and comfortable up to 50ish degrees.

The additional details that I really like:

  • The extended cuffs to give additional protection to your hands

  • The drop tail of the jacket to give you additional coverage without it riding up while wearing a vest

  • The bottom up second zipper giving you additional breathability and access to a running belt or other areas.

Path has a lot of great product and their baseliners and shorts get most of the spotlight.

But, if you’re building out your layering system for your next big race, it’s worth your time to consider these key products to add to your list.

The Graves PX Shell Jacket will no doubt be a staple in my Tahoe 200 journey.
